Meet Our Team

Our doctors are all trained in sports medicine. This advanced training enables them to provide many different medical treatments that help ease sports-related pain and injuries while speeding recovery.

Our Doctors John Fifer, David Heligman, Ed Gomez, Robert Follweiler, Blane Kelly, Spencer Skinner and George Markovich are board-certified orthopaedic surgeons by the American Board of Orthopaedic or Osteopathic Surgeons. They are medical staff members at Lee Memorial Hospital and Gulf Coast Hospital.

Doctors John Fifer, David Heligman, Ed Gomez, Robert Follweiler, George Markovich, Richard Hood, Jeffrey E. Kleiman and Spencer P. Skinner are active in local sporting groups, including little league, hockey, high school football and soccer. Participating in local youth activities is one way they contribute to the community's well-being and overall good health. They also participate in Senior health events and educational seminars for the community.

Dr. Richard Hood is a board-certified physician in Pain Management by the American Academy of Pain Management and a qualified Anesthesiologist, certified by the American Board of Anesthesia. Dr. Hood is an affiliate staff member at Lee Memorial Hospital. He is an excellent addition to the services already provided to our patients at the Institute for Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine.

Dr. Kleiman is a Board Certified Foot surgeon by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He completed a three year residency program in the Philadelphia, PA area for Foot and Ankle surgery. Dr. Kleiman does surgery at Gulf Coast Hospital, Lee Memorial Hospital and Riverwalk Surgery Center and practices at both Ft. Myers and Estero Locations. He provides foot care at several Lee County Nursing Facilities.
